Why is a CPO certification important?

Certified Pool Operator training is a nationally recognized course, followed by written examination which teaches advanced techniques in safety, water chemistry, maintenance and management. This course is recognized as a standard of the industry.
The CPO seal of approval is assurance to pool and spa owners, from motels to Olympic sized municipal and college pools, that their facilities and their swimmers are under the supervision of trained/certified professionals.
Those who complete the program and examination receive certification which is valid for five years.

The State of Wyoming pool code requires that each pool have 2 CPO certified staff employed or contracted at all times. This requirement alone is a great reason to get certified.

CPO Certification Information

The CPO class is 16 hours, plus additional time for extra math practice and the exam.

We use formulas to calculate the volume, flow, turnover, pump and filter sizes and more! It’s not scary and we plan to do in depth math practice for each class!

The test is a measure of how well you can find information in the book and your notes. The test is open book, open note and any of the handouts that you are given in the class can be used as resources.
You must get a passing grade of at least 75% in order to receive your certification.
